What's Happening? What's New? What's Evil?
Read Dan Foster (below) on the evil in this world. The Bible's old testament Judges 19 is his case study text.
The Levite made choices that suited him. The mob followed their impulses. The townspeople looked away. Everyone did what was right in their own eyes, and the cost was carried by the woman who had the least power to resist.
This is always the way it works. When a culture abandons responsibility to the common good, the strong find ways to thrive, while the weak bear the scars. The privileged protect themselves, while the powerless are sacrificed. It was true in Gibeah, and it is true wherever systems collapse into self-interest.

Lawrence Gray, writer of the Liminal Britain essays writes a thoughtful piece on Britain's decline well worth reading:
One cannot argue with the idea that borders make a country. If one opens them, globalises them, so to speak, it becomes just a piece of land that we drift through depending on economic necessity. A bit like the way modern football teams recruit people from around the world, and just label them Manchester United or Liverpool, and sell T-shirts to their fans. Your local team is not exactly made up of locals.

Although we are, thankfully, well out of the loop and have zero 'influence', out there are clever thoughtful writers and media shaping the new zeitgeist (see links below) well worth reading and following.

Strength and Tenderness 2
This fine volume is the product of a fine mind and a deeply felt Christian sensibility- as anyone who has experienced Doug’s dignified, sincere and dedicated ministry can attest Like his substantial earlier volume of hymns, songs and poem, this collection reflects several sides of his musical and literary talents. The musical settings reflect or embrace many styles and varied harmonies from the simplicity of (say) ‘All my strength and tenderness’ (the Teilo Magnificat) to often jazz tinged piquant harmony. The book is very well produced and published to a very high standard, and is a valuable addition to the repertoire of Christian music and literature.
