What's Happening? What's New? What's Evil?
We live and work in 'rural' Wales, so this issue of the Zeitgeist has links to articles written about the latest political developments here. It is our contention that 'satire' written/voiced/imaged by independent voices on the internet is the 'power' that will save (some of us) from the (alien probing/religious conversion/nuclear winter/choose your poison) apocalypse. I'm off to re-watch Mars Attacks and YouTube videos on how to prepare for the imminent arrival of the 3iAtlas alien mothership.
Ben Wildsmith 'Curiously, they all seemed to be wearing identical dark grey suits. Their rosettes and ties suggested they were auditioning for the role of Mr. Turquoise in a sequel to Reservoir Dogs.'

Willy & Bill 'Nigel Mirage appeared briefly over the Valleys, shimmering in a cloud of ego and vape smoke, before evaporating the moment Plaid Cymru said “bore da.” He had promised to paint Wales blue, but the paint peeled off mid-speech. Reform UK threw their entire propaganda playbook at Caerphilly, from memes and mugs to men in beige jackets, and Wales politely handed it back with “try harder, love” written on top.'

Will Hayward 'Several historic things have just happened at once in Wales. Plaid Cymru won in the Caerphilly byelection for our Senedd, with almost 50% of the vote. Reform lost. Labour collapsed. Each of those things means something significant for Wales, but it also carries valuable lessons for the rest of Britain. The message for Labour ought to be clear: standing up to the hard right can win elections.'

Francis Fukuyama 'Ever since the year 2016, when Britain voted for Brexit and Trump was elected president, social scientists, journalists, pundits, and almost everyone else have been trying to explain the rise of global populism.'

'What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book because there would be no one who wanted to read one.' — Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death
The dawn of the post-literate society And the end of civilisation.

Although we are, thankfully, well out of the loop and have zero 'influence', out there are clever thoughtful writers and media shaping the new zeitgeist (see links below) well worth reading and following.
