as some would have you classified,  
as though such exclamation  
were enough.  
  
I feel like I could reach  
Out and clutch the polished solidity  
of your head, your neck,  
but then you turn away to preen  
and they crumble like charcoal,  
leaving your breast empty, unfinished.  
  
And you, sea-bird, sky-bird,  
if you don’t know what comes next  
how could I?
